We believe that every business - no matter what size - should be able to compete with any other business. It's not about how big your building is, how many staff you have or how many products you sell.
We're committed to seeing this happen and as part of that commitment, 2014 will see us reach out to the 20% of Australians and countless others throughout the world who have some disability, hindering the way they use the internet and view websites.
The obvious starting point to do that is our own website, so we've re-written our website from the ground up, integrating a wide range of accessibility features and conducting numerous tests to ensure we have it as good as can be - and we'll be continually challenging ourselves to make it even better!
WCAG 2.0 - Web Content Accessibility Guidelines - covers a wide range of recommendations for making web content more accessible. Using the success criteria, we are aiming to achieve Level AA compliance and are in the process of analysing each section of the site to see how close we are. We'll let you know when we've achieved it!
Accessibility features we have integrated into this website are as follows:
- Skip Links
- Restructured code and improved content flow
- Prominent focus styling on links and elements
- Font resizing ability
- Four different themes to choose from
- Simplified menu
- Breadcrumb Navigation
- Testing with NVDA
