Station 15
Ushered by Ghosts I, II, III, block relief and unique state etching on Belgian linen, 77cm x 68cm each. Photograph by Stuart Elliott.
Our world is structured through traditions and expressed through ritual and symbolism. To effectively function in it, we need to negotiate a continuously evolving labyrinth of systems that complexify through usage. Increasingly, our systems intertwine with those of others, convoluting in combination to a point of critical mass wherein they undergo a shattering of the vestiges of familiarity. Ushered by ghosts, remnants of our past are fragmentary and partial, wholly invested in strains of belief.
Sequentially, the spirit of printmaking hides in plain sight an inventory of shards and fragments. Its art is chronicled within a kind of assemblage of particles often crowded so fully within systems that they cannot but shatter and start anew. Rumbling in life and convoluting in dogma, anomaly almost neurotically commands center stage. The enigma of such intensely complex and bewildering systems prompts a spontaneous lexicon of renewal with promising ground for resurrection. Ultimately, they wield the flinty currency of archeological myth in their intention to transcribe a narrative.
Meditation
We go on our way
and Jesus goes ahead of us.
We do not need to be afraid
for Jesus is risen.
God is love –
and love is more powerful
than fear or death or evil,
and we are greatly loved.
and we are grateful.
Thanks be to God for redeeming the word in love.
AMEN

Reading
After the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome brought spices to anoint the body of Jesus. Very early on Sunday morning, at sunrise, they went to the tomb. On the way they said to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?” It was a very large stone. Then they looked up and saw that the stone had already been rolled back. So they entered the tomb, where they saw a young man sitting on the right wearing a white robe, and they were alarmed. “Don’t be alarmed,” He said. “I know you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth who was crucified. He is not here. He had been raised. Look! Here is the place where they put Him. Now go and give this message to His disciples, including Peter: He is going to Galilee ahead of you. There you will see Him, just as He told you.”
